Q: HI, I am pre diabetic (Type 2). I understand the benefits of juicing, but most juices have a lot of carbs. Which types of juices have less natural sugars? Can you recommend a few that you sell? I would like to do the 3 day cleanse, can that be customized for my dietary needs?
A: As part of our line of Therapeutic Juices, we carry a juice called My Blood Sugar is Balanced. It contains Cucumber, Celery, Asparagus, Artichokes, and Lemon. The juice contains natural insulin, which helps to bring the blood sugar into balance and keep it stable. It is wonderful for alkalizing, strengthening, and regenerating the pancreas.
My grandmother, who is 86 now, suffered from diabetes two years ago. After purchasing a juicer and blender for her, I introduced her to the world of juicing (and blending). At first, she was afraid to drink fresh juices and fruit smoothies as her doctor had told her she could not consume fruit. She decided however to put the fear aside and would start to drink between 32 to 48 fl. oz. of juice and smoothies a day, both of which contained natural fructose (fruit sugar). In fact, certain smoothies were 100% fruit-based (i.e. orange juice as the base, bananas and kiwi, etc.). After a few days, her blood sugar had completely stabilized. She continues to make her own juices and smoothies to this day. This is just one of many transformations I have experienced with diabetic people.
With that, I have to say that natural sugars do not cause diabetes (which is a pancreas disorder) nor throw the blood sugar levels off balance if the patient eliminates all processed foods (refined sugars, starches, etc.) including everything that is derived from an animal. A plant-based diet should be embraced.
For your juice cleanse, we could double up on the My Blood Sugar is Balanced juice in order to help rejuvenate your pancreas. We could also take out one of the sweeter juices if you wish.
